Quanto a questa plaquette: Holwell è dell’opinione, ormai superata, di Aristotele e ritiene che le comete siano exhaled from the Earth, oppure, più fondatamente (most rational: sic), Spirits of the Air, come scrisse Paracelsus; ritiene che la nova identificata come tale da Tycho Brahe nel 1572 sia stata soltanto una forma assunta dall’esalazione della terra, più grande del solito; quanto agli effetti, ritiene che la cometa porterà many evils to England and a bloody war.
